Educational Assistant

Position Summary:
The Physical Support Educational Assistant – Physical Support Specialist provides direct, individualized support to students with physical limitations to ensure full access to the educational environment. This role includes assisting with mobility, daily living activities, classroom participation, and any accommodations outlined in a student’s IEP or 504 Plan. The assistant works closely with the student’s educational teams to promote independence, dignity, and academic success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one support to a few students with physical disabilities across all school settings (classroom, cafeteria, playground, etc.)

Assist with mobility needs, including transferring, positioning, and use of mobility equipment (e.g., wheelchair, walker)

Support with personal care tasks, such as feeding, toileting, and hygiene, as required

Facilitate the use of adaptive equipment and assistive technology

Modify and adapt classroom materials under teacher direction to support physical access and learning

Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to implement accommodations and support strategies

Encourage and support student independence and self-advocacy whenever possible

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district and legal guidelines related to student privacy and care
Qualifications:
Required:

High school diploma or equivalent

Ability to safely lift, transfer, and physically support a student as needed (training provided)

General Description
Under the supervision of the building administrators, the educational assistant provides support to teachers and students as a behavior support, in supervison duties, supporting instruction, or other duties as assigned.

Salary
Salary will be entry level rate for Educational Assistants.
