Seasonal Garden Coordinator

The garden coordinator works under the direction of a credentialed teacher, coordinating and assisting in garden instruction, garden upkeep, and student activities in the garden  at our school site. 

*Works with small groups of students in the garden, promoting and increasing awareness of good nutritional habits in the relationship of the garden to the food we eat.

* Waters, rakes hose, shovels and weeds planted area, compost yard and vegetable waste

* Plants seeds, and seedlings; transplants and harvest vegetables, fruits, flowers, and herbs.

* Plans and develops educational programs for students

*Answering schedules class garden sessions.

* Provides information orally, and in writing regarding garden projects to staff students and parents.

* Consults with staff and student progress and behavior. Monitor student progress and provides feedback to staff members

* Researches and prepares educational materials; establishes garden and nutrition resource files, and distributes materials

* Knowledge of soil plants planting and composting methods.

* Knowledge of gardening, safety procedures.

* Knowledge of instructional methods and techniques,

*Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time

* Ability to work independently.

* Ability to monitor large groups of students

* Ability to use various gardening, tools, and supplies safely and efficiently.

* Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, stooping, carrying, pushing, pulling, and standing for long periods of time

Must be able to pass a background check
